Patch Project Requirements
Discovering Art
The National Museum of Women in the Arts has developed a patch project for Girl Scouts. The booklet is available for sale at the Service Center . The Museum strongly recommends that each girl in the troop have their own copy of the Discovering Art book. It can be used as a reference throughout her life. There is also a printout of Troop Activities given free with Discovering Art, not printed here at this time. These are the patch criteria suggestions that go with the girl booklet.
Participation suggestions for Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts
1. Complete the Discovering Art: A Museum Guide book.
2. Complete at least one or more of the suggested troop activities
in the Leaders Guide to the Discovering Art: A Museum Guide for Girl Scouts.
3. Send the NMWA information about a woman artist in
our area by completing the Woman Artist Interview form also provided in the Leaders
Guide.
4. Visit an art museum or center near you and try to find
some of the same kind of art found in the Discovering Art book.
5. Complete the evaluation provided in the Leaders Guide and
send it to NMWA.
Participation suggestions for Studio 2B
1. Assist a younger troop in completing the book Discovering Art:
A Museum Guide for GirlScouts. Organize at least one activity
from the Leaders Guide to Discovering Art, and help plan and accompany
the younger troop trip to the museum.
2. Send information to NMWA about woman artists in your
area by completing the Woman Artist Interview form provided in the Leader’s
Guide.
3. Complete the evaluation provided in the Leader’s
Guide and send it to NMWA.
