Fashion

An official Council’s Own Junior Girl Scout badge developed by Jenna and Lauren, of the Wellington area. Choose six activities

  1. Research fashion trends over the past 100 years and write about the differences and similarities among them.
  2. With a fashion show for friends and or families, demonstrate the changes in clothing that has occurred over the century.  For example, show how skirt lengths have evolved over the years.
  3. Sketch or draw what you think future fashions will look like. Share your sketches and drawings with your troop.
  4. Sketch an outfit, then make it and model it.  It’s alright to find a ready made pattern that you can adjust, if needed.
  5. Make arrangements to visit a modeling studio and take a tour.  Find out what it is like to be a real model.  Try to arrange a walking lesson for the girls in the troop.
  6. Watch a fashion show on television, or better, try to see one for real at the mall or other event.
  7. Find out how modeling began originally.  There weren’t always “super models”; find out when they became celebrities.
  8. Discover information about the different types of models there are - such as fashion, print, advertising, television, etc.  What does each one do?  Compare their incomes.
  9. Coordinate a fashion show depicting styles you have learned about.  Show your new skills at runway modeling.  Do your show for a nursing home, other troops or families.
