Girl Scouts of Palm Glades Council, Inc.
Patch Project Requirements
Florida History
Girl Scouts in Florida have the privilege of living in one of America ’s greatest states. Florida has a rich, dramatic history and a deeply varied culture. The Florida History Patch was originally created by the Gateway Girl Scout Council to celebrate Florida ’s 150th Anniversary as a state. It was designed to help girls become more familiar with the county, council area, and state in which we live, work and play.
Use the internet, libraries, museums, State Park Service, Water Management, The Florida Dept. of Tourism, and Chambers of Commerce as resources – just to name a few.
Discuss what you learn with others, and to make it into a community action project – how about making a scrapbook of all the information you have gathered and sharing it with a nursing home?
County Area – try to complete at least three activities
- Learn about your county government and locate or visit your county seat.
- Learn about the businesses or industries in your county
- Visit an historical site in your county.
- Conduct a community action project in your county community. For example remind people to vote, plant a tree or garden, clean up a park or the beach
