Outdoor Training Opportunities include Basic Troop Camp Training and a varety of other courses.

Registering for Courses
All training courses require pre-registration. Please register on or before the deadline date. Deadline dates allow our volunteer trainers time to prepare and our Training registrar time to return confirmations and directions to participants.

You may register for Outdoor Training Opportunities in 2 ways. All courses with a fee must include payment with registration. You can download a Training Registration form (Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF), complete it and mail or fax it in. Or, you can email Keneitha Monroe to register for a course. If you choose to register via email, copy the text below and paste it into your email; then fill in the blanks and send it.

Basic Troop Camp Training Information and Schedule
This course is designed to assist in adults in sharing the outdoor experience with girls. It teaches the 8 Basic Outdoor Skills (knife safety, knot tying, fire building, dressing for the out-of-doors, first aid, meal preparation, conservation and compass skills) via games and fun-filled activities.

This two-part training consists of an in-town session (3 hours) and an overnight camping trip to Camp Welaka. A participant must complete both parts in order to earn certification. A participant taking part in the October intown sessions must take part in the October overnight at Camp Welaka. For those participating in the January intown sessions, the February night trip is required.

Who this course is for:
All registered Girl Scout adults. In order for a troop to go troop camping, they must bring along a certified Basic Troop Camper.

Fees:
There are two separate fees for this course:
1. $25.00 to cover the cost of program materials and camp utilities, must be included with your registration.
2. $20.00 cash (please have exact amount). Please bring with you to the intown sessions. This money will be used to purchase groceries for meals while at camp.

NOTE: Registration will not be accepted without payment. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope so that we can mail you a confirmation with directions and further instructions. Sorry, no phone confirmations. You will receive your information one week prior to the intown session.

Refunds:
Refunds will be made only if the course is canceled, or if participant cancellation notice is received at least 5 days prior to the intown session.
